Searching the bloggers

I have spent the morning searching the web for other crochet blogs trying to get some inspiration! I love seeing what other people are working on. There is such great work being done. I've been thinking of going in a bright and colorful direction. I'm still making chains to finish the Friendship Scarf. Take a look at a few of the things I found. You may want to follow these creative people!!

Crochet O'Clock. You can find this at accordingtomatt.blogspot.com. So colorful. Perfect for a spring project!

Over at crochetnuts-place.blogspot.com you can find this beautiful hotpad design.

These Vintage Flower Pot Holders can be found at http://made-in-k-town.blogspot.com/

As I said I'm still working on the chain portion of the Friendship scarf. It's starting to come together. I just need to assemble.

STOP! Look & Listen!

I spent the weekend working on the chain link part of my Friendship Scarf. I also spent the weekend Tweeting and trying to follow more crocheters. I've been looking at crocheting blogs and Facebook pages to get ideas and inspiration. There is a lot of really great work begin done all around the world. Sometimes I feel like my little scarf project just doesn't even rank in the same category of work I'm seeing. But I keep going, because every stitch is a learning experience no matter what it is!!

But then I ran across this project on a Facebook page called The Needle Nerd. https://www.facebook.com/TheNeedleNerd Follow her too! It actually took my breath away. I need to make this!!

The only problem is that the page is in Japanese. I've tweeted the creator to see if there is a pattern in English. Hopefully we'll come across something to find out how to get this pattern. This work is exquisite. The piece is gorgeous and I think epitomizes the creativity that is crochet. I could stare at it for hours just trying to figure it out. The color combo is beautiful.

Whenever you think you can't push yourself further take a look at this work and push through!!!!

Progress Has Been Made

I've been having a lot of fun trying to create this, what I call, friendship scarf. I've been counting and taking notes and ripping out and remeasuring!! But I've got to say, it's starting to take shape.

Here's the progress so far:

After making three long chains of over 300 stitches I started the braiding process. I had to make three of these.
A couple of the braided pieces.

Three braided pieces finished. I used the fun fur in one of the braids.

Here is the chain link portion. After I finish it I will stitch all of the pieces together every 10 inches or so to keep all of the pieces together. This chain link piece is really fun to do!
So once I finish the chain link portion I will begin assembling the final piece. I may add some fun fur chains through the chain link to give it some fluffiness.

Stay tuned for the finished piece!!!

The Challenge!

I recently met with some old friends that I used to work with and were also my college buddies. We hadn't seen each other in quite awhile so it was really great to catch up and remember old times.  My friend Shelley was sporting a very interesting scarf and she knows how much I love to crochet. When she showed it to me she challenged me to recreate it. So I took a few pics and got excited about finding the stitches and yarn etc. So this is what I'm working on today. Finding a chain link pattern, testing the stitch, playing with the new yarn and doing a lot of braiding. I think I'm going to really enjoy this project. Stay tuned for the finished product. Thanks Shelley!!!

This is the beautiful scarf for the challenge. It's really fun and a great addition to any outfit!

I'm using these colors. Lion Brand Homespun Barley and Red Heart Super Saver Cafe Latte and some smokey brown fun fur.
Hope everyone had a fun New Year's Eve and are having a spectacular New Years Day. I'm about a half hour away from putting a pork roast, kielbasa and sauerkraut in the crock pot for our traditional New Years Day dinner. Best of luck in 2013.
